Quarantine Activities for Kids

Quarantine definitely has its pros and cons! Quality time is a huge pro, but on the same hand, too much time in the same house, with the same people, turns it into a con. My sister came to visit me this week and I could not be happier! She is 10 years old and full of energy. I was so excited for all the fun things we were going to do. I realized really quickly that I needed some activities that she could do on her own and we needed more activities! So we put together some creative activities that you could do with kiddos while in quarantine.

  1. Sidewalk Chalk Game: I have seen these used in schools before with tape and now I am seeing these on sidewalks, so I decided to make my own down the sidewalk! I think these are PERFECT to get energy out, used as a brain break in between school work and they are just fun!
    • If you do not have any chalk right now at your house, it is okay! This etsy account, falling star naturals, has some super kid friendly choices that you can get fast and they are a really reasonable price!
  1. Treasure Hunt: Set up a treasure hunt around your house, yard or neighborhood! With Easter being over, I know we all have some easter eggs laying around. Hide about 10-20 easter eggs in the area you are playing and let the kiddos find them. To make the activity last longer you could put clues to the next egg in them and a big prize at the end of the hunt.
  2. Make something new: Find something in your house that you no longer use or that you would normally throw away and recycle it into a whole new purpose. Let the kiddos get creative and show their imagination! Example materials could be: Paper, toilet paper rolls, straws, paper plates, boxes, rubber bands, water bottles and so much more!
  3. Water Paint Concrete: This one is so simple! All you need is concrete, a paint brush and water. You will just use the brush on the concrete and the sun dries your picture up and you can try again.

  1. Games: These are a list of games that you can do without any extra supplies: Hide and Go Seek, Tag, Simon Says, Freeze Dance, Freeze Tag, Hop Scotch, and Sardines.
  2. Obstacle course: What kiddo does not like a challenge? Your kiddo(s) can do this inside or outside. They will use objects they have around the house to make an obstacle course, they will then time themselves racing it. Always trying to beat their time. For an added challenge do it down the sidewalk with a bike, scooter or skateboard.
  3. Chalk Creations: This one is a super fun one right now. All you need is chalk and tape (painters or washi). Tape off some of your sidewalk and then use the chalk to color in the different areas! It turns out so cute. All the neighbors came to tell us how cute it was and how they were trying not to step on it on their walks!

  1. Create homemade items: Go check out our blogs by clicking on the pictures below on how to make oobleck, puffy sidewalk chalk, and homemade playdoh! These are so fun because they all have ingredients that you probably already have at home!
